Baptism
Jesus the risen Lord assured his followers of his continuing presence and power and commissioned them saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19, NRSV).
For adults who have made a faith commitment to Jesus Christ, baptism conveys the realities of:
- the faithfulness of God
- turning away from sin
- rebirth
- a desire to live fully into the new life Jesus grants
- and commitment to be an active member of God’s family all wrapped in the amazing forgiveness and grace of God in Jesus Christ.
- is a sign of God’s grace operating in the life of the child even before he/she is at an age of personal profession of faith in Christ
- signals inclusion in the family of God
The Sacrament of Baptism is administered in the context of worship and fellowship. Because of the promises made (which include a promise by the congregation to support you, your family and in the case of infant baptism, to help you raise your child in the faith) baptisms are ordinarily set as part of a worship service rather than done privately.
It will be our joy to baptize you or a member of your household. Please fill out the request form below and a GraceWay team member will be in touch with you. Please note that baptism requests should be submitted a minimum of four weeks in advance of the requested date.
